How Much Is Electricity in Las Vegas?

NV Energy serves Southern Nevada homes. Its standard Residential Single Family rate is an $18.00 basic service charge each month plus a total effective rate of $0.12093 per kWh, per the rate sheet effective January 1, 2026. A local government fee is added on top.

Here are rough examples using that rate, before fees. These are estimates, not quotes.

• 700 kWh in a month: about $103
• 1,000 kWh in a month: about $139
• 1,500 kWh in a month: about $199

Summer is when usage climbs, because air conditioning runs most of the day. NV Energy also offers an optional time of use plan. On that plan, power from 6:01 p.m. to 9 p.m. between June 1 and September 30 costs much more per kWh, and other hours cost less. It can save money if you can shift use away from those evening hours.

Rates can change. In August 2026, NV Energy asked state regulators to lower Southern Nevada rates starting October 1, 2026. A typical single family customer would save about $5.01 a month, or 3.63%, if the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approves it.

What Does Natural Gas Cost?

Southwest Gas supplies natural gas in the valley. The company says gas use rises in cooler months, when homes use it for heat and hot water.

On March 17, 2026, Southwest Gas filed a rate case with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada. It estimates the average residential customer in Southern Nevada would pay about $7.11 more per month, with new rates proposed for October 2026. Regulators still have to review it. Not every home has gas service, so check what each home uses.

How Much Is Water in Las Vegas?

The Las Vegas Valley Water District serves the City of Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County. Single family homes pay a monthly service charge based on meter size, which is $13.88 for a 5/8 inch meter. Water use is billed in four tiers per 1,000 gallons: $1.61 for the first 5,000 gallons, $2.87 for the next 5,000, $4.27 for the next 10,000, and $6.33 above 20,000, based on a 30 day billing cycle.

So a home using 10,000 gallons in a month would pay about $36 for water, not counting sewer or trash. New customers pay a $150 deposit, split across the first two bills. These rates cover the district's service area, so if you buy in Henderson or North Las Vegas, check your city's water rates.

How Can You Estimate Bills for a Specific Home?

Ask the seller for 12 months of electric and gas bills. Home size and age both change the numbers. So does a pool. If the home has solar, find out whether the panels are owned or leased, since a lease is a monthly payment you take over.
