Drywall Installers and Concrete Finishers Qualifying for Worker Advantage

by Ryan Rose

Drywall installers and concrete finishers handle two of the most physically demanding trades in construction, and Nevada's Worker Advantage Program recognizes their contributions with $20,000 in down payment assistance. Both professions appear on the program's list of 47 eligible occupations.

How Drywall Installers and Concrete Finishers Qualify

Both trades qualify for the Worker Advantage grant. At least one borrower on the loan must work full time in an eligible profession. The requirements include a minimum 640 credit score, six months of Nevada residency, and household income at or below $142,350 in Clark County.

The program is not limited to first time homebuyers. Drywall installers and concrete finishers who already own a home or have purchased before can still apply. The maximum purchase price is $832,750, and the property must serve as your primary residence.

What the $20,000 Covers

The $20,000 is structured as a 0% interest second mortgage with no monthly payments. Repayment is deferred until you sell, refinance, or reach the end of the 30 year term. You can apply the funds toward your down payment, closing costs, or a rate buydown to reduce your monthly mortgage payment.

North Las Vegas has a median home price of $410,000, the most affordable in the valley, with strong inventory under $400,000. At that price point, the $20,000 grant covers nearly 5% of the purchase. Combined with an FHA loan at 3.5% down, a drywall installer or concrete finisher could close with very little personal savings needed for the down payment.

Strong Demand for Both Trades

Las Vegas has one of the most active construction markets in the western United States, and both drywall installers and concrete finishers stay in high demand. Concrete finishers are essential to every foundation, parking structure, and sidewalk in the valley. Major projects like the A's Stadium, Brightline West rail stations, and the LVXP entertainment district all require extensive concrete work before any other trade can begin.

Drywall installers follow closely behind framing crews on every residential and commercial project. With Blue Diamond Hill planning 3,500 homes in southwest Las Vegas, Skye Summit building in the northwest, and New Windsor Park adding 93 homes in North Las Vegas, residential drywall demand remains strong throughout 2026.
