When did Skye Canyon start?

Skye Canyon was launched in 2014 by Olympia Companies, a developer with a track record of building large master-planned communities in Nevada. The site covers 1,700 acres on the northwest edge of Las Vegas, near the US 95 and 215 freeway corridor. Olympia announced the project as a full lifestyle community, not just a housing tract.

The first homes opened to buyers in 2016. From the start, the plan called for roughly 6,500 homes, with some sources citing a buildout figure as high as 9,000. The community was designed around five parks, miles of trails, and dedicated bike lanes.

How has Skye Canyon grown since 2014?

By 2020, Olympia had sold the remaining 400 plus acres to Century Communities, a national homebuilder that took over as the master developer for the rest of the buildout. That handoff kept construction moving without a pause, and major builders kept signing on. Today the lineup includes Toll Brothers, Lennar, Pulte, Century, Beazer, LGI, Woodside, Richmond American, Pardee, and Taylor Morrison.

Skye Canyon has been named to top 50 master-planned community lists in the United States, and at one point ranked around number 22 by new home sales. Developer surveys report 92 percent resident satisfaction. About 5,108 residents now live inside Skye Canyon proper, with the wider 89166 ZIP code holding 27,060 people.
