The Vegas Golden Knights host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena, and it is the team's annual Noche de Los VGK theme night. It is also the first home game since Vegas dropped three straight, so the crowd at The Fortress will have plenty to cheer for.
Noche de Los VGK is the team's yearly celebration of its Hispanic and Latino fans, built under the LosVGK brand the team launched in 2023. This is the first theme night on the Season X list, and it kicks off a busy week that ends with the Nevada Day matinee on Friday.
Here is what we know about Tuesday's game, where the night came from, and how to plan around a big week of hockey in Las Vegas.
What Happened
The Golden Knights' Theme Knights and Promotions page lists Noche de Los VGK as the first theme night of Season X. The details are simple: Tuesday, Oct. 27, 7 p.m. Pacific, against the Ottawa Senators at T-Mobile Arena. The page invites fans to "Celebrate Noche de Los VGK at The Fortress." The game is part of the team's 10-Game Legends Plan, and single-game tickets went on sale Sept. 1.
The team's own recap of Saturday's game in Columbus confirmed the date and time. It said the Golden Knights "return home for two games, beginning with the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena," and that Vegas "will host its annual Noche de Los VGK at The Fortress." The recap also pointed fans to a Noche de Los VGK special ticket offer on the team site.
The team has not posted a full list of in-arena activities for this year's game on its theme night page. If you want to know exactly what will happen on the plaza and inside the arena, check the Golden Knights website or social accounts closer to game day.
If you cannot make it, you can still catch the game. According to the team, it airs on Scripps Sports (The Spot, Vegas 34 in Las Vegas), streams on KnightTime+, and is on the radio on X 107.9 and 105.7 Maxima.
The timing makes this a big night for fans. Vegas started the season 8-2-0. Then came a 6-2 home loss to Tampa Bay on Oct. 20, a 6-2 loss in St. Louis on Oct. 22, and a 2-1 overtime loss in Columbus on Oct. 24. The Golden Knights come home at 8-4-1. Tuesday is the first chance for the home crowd to see them since the Tampa Bay game, which drew 17,017 fans.
That last home game was a tough one. Tampa Bay won 6-2 to end the homestand. Ivan Barbashev scored his first goal of the season for Vegas, and Mark Stone scored shorthanded. On the road after that, Brett Howden and Jack Eichel scored in St. Louis, and Tomas Hertl scored the only Vegas goal in Columbus. Fans will be hoping the offense wakes up back home.
Why It Matters to Las Vegas Residents
Las Vegas is a hockey town now, and a lot of that has to do with how the Golden Knights have tried to reach every part of the valley. Noche de Los VGK is one of the clearest examples. It is a night built for local families, not tourists, and it celebrates a big part of who lives here.
It is also a Tuesday game at 7 p.m. For many families, a weeknight game is a little easier to plan than a holiday weekend. You can leave work, grab dinner near the Strip, and still be in your seat before puck drop. If you live in the southwest valley, Spring Valley or Summerlin, the arena is a short drive. From Henderson, North Las Vegas or Centennial Hills, plan a little more time for traffic.
The game matters on the ice too. After a three-game skid, fans want to see how the team responds at home. A good night against Ottawa could turn the week around before Friday's Nevada Day game against the New Jersey Devils.
And for anyone who follows the team in Spanish, the LosVGK brand has made that easier over the years, with Spanish-language broadcasts, social accounts, and bilingual pages on the team site. Tuesday is the night when that effort is front and center at the arena.
Local businesses feel it too. Home games fill restaurants and bars around the Strip and across the valley. A theme night with a strong community draw tends to bring people out early and keep them out late.
Background and History
The roots of Noche de Los VGK go back to Oct. 23, 2023. That day, the Golden Knights announced LosVGK, a brand to celebrate and connect with the team's Hispanic fans. The team said it wanted to grow hockey in Clark County and across its broadcast area, build community partnerships, and talk with fans in Spanish all year long, not just on one night.
The team hired Benjamin Thomas, a Las Vegas native of Mexican-American descent, as its full-time Director of Marketing and Latino Outreach. The LosVGK logo was designed by Golden Knights staffer Stephanie Suominen, who is of Colombian descent and had worked on the team's Hispanic Heritage Knight jerseys. The team launched a LosVGK merchandise line and a bilingual page on its website. It also noted that every home game since the 2017-18 inaugural season had been broadcast in Spanish, and that its Spanish-language social media accounts launched in 2019.
The LosVGK gear was not just for the arena. When the brand launched, the team said the shirts, hoodies and hats would be sold at The Arsenal at City National Arena in Summerlin and at The Livery at America First Center in Henderson. The team also said LosVGK was meant to be a year-round part of the franchise, with the bilingual web page as the first of several. In other words, the theme night is the big party, but the outreach behind it runs all season, in neighborhoods well away from the Strip.
That first year, LosVGK debuted ahead of the team's Hispanic Heritage Night on Nov. 2, 2023, against Winnipeg. The team also planned a hockey clinic the next day at the James Boys and Girls Club in North Las Vegas.
The first game under the Noche de LosVGK name came on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at T-Mobile Arena. The team's Morning Skate Report that day said it built on the Hispanic Heritage nights the team had held before. Because it fell on Dia de los Muertos weekend, the VGK shield took on a sugar skull look as a tribute. That night featured face painters, Folklorico dancers, mariachi bands and a DJ on Toshiba Plaza and inside the arena. Young players ages 7 to 12 from the Metepec Buffalos hockey program in Mexico played during the first intermission, and an ofrenda, or altar, was on display.
This year's game falls just before Dia de los Muertos again, on Oct. 27. The team now calls it an annual night, and it opens the Season X theme night calendar.
What Happens Next
Tuesday's game against Ottawa is the first of two straight home games. The second is the Nevada Day matinee against the New Jersey Devils on Friday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. The team says it will wear specially designed Nevada Day jerseys that will be signed by players and auctioned. Nevada Day is a state holiday, so many kids are out of school, which makes it an easy family game.
After that, the Season X theme night list keeps rolling. Military Appreciation Knight is Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. against the Utah Mammoth. Hockey Fights Cancer is Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. against the Nashville Predators. The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Knight is Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. against the Dallas Stars. Kids Day is Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. against the Montreal Canadiens. And PWHL Las Vegas Knight is Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. against the Winnipeg Jets, celebrating the PWHL's first season in Las Vegas.
If you like planning ahead, here is the rest of the Season X theme night list from the team's page, in order:
- Dec. 16, 7 p.m., San Jose Sharks: Vegas Born Knight, with a Vegas Born hat for the first 10,000 fans
- Jan. 2, 7 p.m., Colorado Avalanche: Law Enforcement Appreciation Knight
- Jan. 7, 6:30 p.m., Minnesota Wild: Firefighter Appreciation Knight
- Jan. 9, 7 p.m., Seattle Kraken: Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Knight
- Jan. 20, 7 p.m., Edmonton Oilers: Mental Health Knight
- Jan. 22, 7 p.m., Boston Bruins: College Football Playoff Knight
- Feb. 13, 7 p.m., Calgary Flames: Misfits to Champions Knight, with a key chain for the first 10,000 fans
- Feb. 24, 6:30 p.m., Florida Panthers: Black History Month night
- March 15, 7 p.m., Winnipeg Jets: The Golden Age Knight, with a player bobblehead for the first 10,000 fans
- March 17, 7 p.m.: St. Patrick's Day night
- March 31, 7:30 p.m., Vancouver Canucks: Women's History Knight
- April 6, 7:30 p.m., St. Louis Blues: Donate Life Knight
- April 10, 7:30 p.m., Los Angeles Kings: Fan Appreciation Knight, with a Viewfinder for the first 10,000 fans
Several of those nights also include signed jerseys that are auctioned, according to the team. Dates and promotions can change, so double check the team site before you buy.
Friday's opponent comes with a storyline of its own. On Oct. 23, Winnipeg traded star goalie Connor Hellebuyck to the New Jersey Devils, according to NHL.com. NHL.com said there was no set timetable for his Devils debut, so it is not known yet whether he will play in Las Vegas on Nevada Day.
On the ice, keep an eye on the penalty kill, which has struggled during the skid, and on whether Mitch Marner is back after missing two road games for the birth of his second child, according to NHL.com. The team's Oct. 24 Morning Skate Report also listed William Karlsson nine points from becoming the franchise's all-time leading scorer, a record that could fall at home this season.
Ryan's Take
I love theme nights like this because they show what Las Vegas really is. People think of the Strip, but the folks filling T-Mobile Arena on a Tuesday are teachers, nurses, contractors and families from every corner of the valley. Noche de Los VGK celebrates a big part of our community, and it is a reminder that this city has roots, traditions and neighbors who care about each other.
When I help buyers who are moving here, I always tell them to go to a Golden Knights game early on. It is one of the fastest ways to feel at home. You will hear the crowd, meet people from your side of town, and get a sense of the local pride that does not show up in a listing. If you are thinking about which part of the valley fits you best, game nights are a fun way to explore. Grab dinner in a neighborhood you are curious about, then head to the arena.
What You Can Do
If you want to go, start with the Golden Knights website. Single-game tickets for Tuesday have been on sale since Sept. 1, and the team is promoting a Noche de Los VGK special ticket offer. The game is also part of the 10-Game Legends Plan if you are thinking about a small package for the season. Puck drop is 7 p.m., so give yourself time for traffic and security on a weeknight.
If you are staying home, the game is on Scripps Sports (The Spot, Vegas 34), on KnightTime+, and on X 107.9 and 105.7 Maxima. It is a good excuse to have friends or neighbors over.
And if you want more hockey closer to home, the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights play at Lee's Family Forum in Henderson. They run $5 Beer Friday at Friday home games this season, which makes for a low-key night out.
