Parks in Southern Highlands
Southern Highlands features seven community parks and two dog parks, making it one of the most recreation friendly neighborhoods in Las Vegas. Each park is maintained to exceptional standards by the community association, providing residents with free access to playgrounds, sports facilities, walking paths, and seasonal splash pads.
Goett Family Park
Goett Family Park serves as the community's flagship recreation space. Located at 10950 Southern Highlands Parkway, this expansive park features the Jaynes Family Splash Park (open seasonally through October 1st), basketball courts, covered playgrounds, a large gazebo, and open grass fields perfect for soccer, picnics, or community events. The park hosts Movies in the Park during summer months and the annual Fall Festival.
Somerset Hills Park
Spanning over six acres, Somerset Hills Park is the largest park in Southern Highlands. Amenities include tennis courts, a seasonal water spray park, barbecue facilities, multiple play structures, walking paths, and shaded pavilions. This park attracts families seeking space for birthday parties, reunions, and weekend gatherings.
Additional Community Parks
Dr. Harry B. Johnson Rose Park offers nearly three acres of serene beauty, featuring a rose garden with benches for quiet reflection. Stonewater Park covers seven acres of rolling landscape with an all grass amphitheater, walking paths, and mountain views. Jimmy Pettyjohn Jr. Park provides a fully gated playground ideal for families with young children. Olympia Sports Park opened in 2018 and features lighted fields, workout stations, basketball courts, and trails with Las Vegas Strip views.
The Paseo Trail
The Paseo hiking and biking trail winds throughout Southern Highlands, connecting neighborhoods and parks. This scenic path provides a safe route for jogging, dog walking, and cycling without leaving the community.
Local Expert Insight
Ryan Rose often recommends Southern Highlands to active families specifically because of the park system. Unlike many Las Vegas communities, these parks stay green, clean, and well maintained year round. The splash pads alone make summer bearable for kids, and the variety means there is always somewhere new to explore.
