Lake Sarah, Maddison, and Lindsey: The Smaller Lakes of Desert Shores
Lake Sarah, Lake Maddison, and Lake Lindsey are the three smaller private lakes inside Desert Shores Las Vegas, each measuring approximately 12 acres and named after the four oldest granddaughters of community founder Hal.
What are the smaller lakes of Desert Shores?
Sarah, Maddison, and Lindsey sit alongside Lake Jacqueline (24.8 acres) to form the four lake system that defines Desert Shores. Each of the three smaller lakes covers roughly 12 acres, about half the size of Jacqueline. Together with Jacqueline they total around 100 acres of private water surface across the 682 acre community.
All four lakes share identical fishing rules, boating rules, and DSCA membership requirements. The smaller lakes simply offer a quieter, more residential atmosphere because they have no commercial dining frontage.
Why are these lakes named Sarah, Maddison, and Lindsey?
The lakes were named after the four oldest granddaughters of community founder Hal of RA Homes, the developer who broke ground on Desert Shores in 1988. Lake Jacqueline carries the eldest granddaughter's name; Sarah, Maddison, and Lindsey follow. This origin story is rare among Las Vegas master planned communities and shows up frequently in Desert Shores marketing materials and the official DSCA history.
Each smaller lake includes connecting walking paths, community docks, and fishing access points along its shoreline. Waterfront lots on these lakes tend to draw families and retirees who want lake views without the pedestrian traffic from Restaurant Row.
A View from Ryan Rose, Las Vegas Real Estate Expert
Ryan Rose often points buyers toward the smaller lakes when they want the lakefront lifestyle without the activity level of Lake Jacqueline. Sarah, Maddison, and Lindsey deliver the same private dock potential, the same fishing stocks, and the same boating rules at a slightly lower buy in than the largest lake. For families with younger kids, that quieter waterfront often wins.
