Ridgebrook neighborhoods and homes

Ridgebrook has four neighborhoods: Echo Ridge, Granite Peaks, Southstar and Sunset Ridge. They wrap around Ridgebrook Park. Each one has its own mix of home sizes.

Every home in Ridgebrook was built from 2001 to 2003. So the homes here are about the same age. When you tour, ask what has been updated, like the roof, the AC and the water heater.

Homes run from about 1,423 to 2,672 square feet. You will find both single story and two story homes. All 486 homes have stucco exteriors.

• Single story only: Echo Ridge and Sunset Ridge. Every home in both is single story.
• Smallest homes: Sunset Ridge starts at about 1,423 square feet.
• Largest homes: Granite Peaks goes up to about 2,672 square feet.
• Smallest top end: Southstar tops out at about 2,087 square feet.

Fertitta Middle School is about 4 miles by car, or about 10 minutes. Durango High School is about 8 miles by car, or about 15 minutes.

Busing

CCSD gives bus service to students who live more than 2 miles from their assigned school. Check your address with the CCSD bus eligibility tool.

Private schools

• The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain is about half a mile from Ridgebrook Park.
• Faith Lutheran (2015 S Hualapai Way) is about 3 miles by car, about 5 to 10 minutes.
• Bishop Gorman High School (5959 S Hualapai Way) is about 4 miles by car, about 10 minutes.

Leashed pets are allowed on Red Rock Canyon trails. Pets are not allowed in the visitor center or its outdoor exhibits.

Red Rock Canyon and the outdoors

Red Rock Canyon is west of Ridgebrook.

How far it is

From Ridgebrook Park, the Red Rock Scenic Drive entrance is about 7 miles, or about 15 minutes by car. Head west on Charleston Blvd (State Route 159).

What to know about Red Rock

• Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
• It covers about 198,000 acres.
• The Scenic Drive is a 13-mile paved, one-way road.
• Calico Tanks, Keystone Thrust and Ice Box Canyon are three of its trails.

Things to do

The BLM lists hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, road and mountain biking, picnicking and camping. The campground is open September 1 to May 31.

Timed entry

From October 1 to May 31, you need a timed-entry reservation for the Scenic Drive. It applies to entry between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Book on Recreation.gov or call (877) 444-6777. From June 1 to September 30, no reservation is needed. Rules can change, so check the BLM site before you go.

Downtown Summerlin is a 106-acre open-air center. It opened in October 2014. From Ridgebrook Park, it is about 3 miles, or about 5 to 7 minutes by car.
