Zippy's Fifth Location Opens North Las Vegas | Ryan Rose
Zippy's, the beloved Hawaiian comfort-food chain, opened its fifth Las Vegas Valley restaurant on May 19, 2026, at 5485 Camino Al Norte in North Las Vegas. The new spot is the only Zippy's in the valley with a pre-paid order pickup lane, making it a first for the brand in the entire Las Vegas area.
What Happened
Zippy's celebrated the grand opening of its Camino Al Norte location at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The restaurant sits at 5485 Camino Al Norte in North Las Vegas, NV 89031.
This is the fifth Zippy's to open in the Las Vegas Valley. It took the chain less than three years to grow from one location to five. The first Las Vegas Zippy's opened on October 10, 2023, at 7095 Badura Avenue near Arroyo Crossing in the southwest part of the city.
The North Las Vegas restaurant has two sets of hours. Takeout service runs from 6 a.m. to midnight. Dine-in service is available from 7 a.m. to midnight. Those hours are the same as the other Las Vegas area locations.
The big standout at this location is the pre-paid order pickup lane. None of the other four Las Vegas Valley Zippy's locations have this feature. Customers can order and pay ahead of time, then drive through the lane to pick up their food without waiting in the regular line. This kind of convenience has become popular at fast-casual restaurants, and it is a new step for Zippy's in the Las Vegas market.
To put the growth in perspective, here is the full timeline of Zippy's openings in the Las Vegas area. The first location opened at Arroyo Crossing in October 2023. The second opened at 4590 S. Hualapai Way in Summerlin South on March 18, 2025. The third opened at 9570 S. Eastern Ave. near Henderson on September 9, 2025. The fourth opened at 10810 W. Charleston Blvd. in Summerlin on January 27, 2026. And now the fifth has opened in North Las Vegas in May 2026.
Why It Matters to Las Vegas Residents
For people who live in North Las Vegas, this is big news. North Las Vegas has been growing fast. New homes, new developments, and a growing population have made the area one of the most active in Clark County. But dining options have not always kept pace with that growth. Adding a well-known, full-service restaurant to the area gives residents a new spot that is close to home.
The pre-paid pickup lane is especially useful in a busy suburb. Families juggling work schedules, school pickups, and errands do not always have time to sit down for a meal. Being able to order ahead and grab food on the go makes Zippy's a practical choice for the North Las Vegas lifestyle.
This location also matters for the growing Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community in Southern Nevada. Las Vegas is home to one of the largest concentrations of people with Hawaiian or Pacific Islander heritage outside of Hawaii itself. For many of these residents, Zippy's is not just a restaurant. It is a connection to home. Having a location in North Las Vegas means more of that community can access familiar food without driving across the valley.
From a real estate perspective, the arrival of a recognizable chain like Zippy's in a neighborhood signals positive things. Retailers and restaurant brands do careful research before they choose locations. When a growing brand picks your neighborhood, it usually means foot traffic is up, incomes are rising, and the area is seen as a good bet for the future. For homeowners and buyers in North Las Vegas, that is a positive sign.
North Las Vegas has seen new master-planned communities, major builders breaking ground, and continued investment in infrastructure. A restaurant like Zippy's fits into that larger pattern of growth.
Background and History
Zippy's has a long history in Hawaii. Brothers Francis and Charles Higa opened the first location on October 17, 1966, at 1725 S. King Street in Honolulu. The restaurant started as a saimin counter. Saimin is a noodle soup dish that is unique to Hawaii. It blends Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and Hawaiian culinary traditions into one bowl.
The Higa brothers named the restaurant after zip codes. At the time, the U.S. Postal Service had just introduced the ZIP code system. The brothers liked the idea of speed and efficiency and wanted their restaurant to carry the same spirit.
The founders had no formal culinary training. They hired Shiro Matsuo, a chef who had previously worked for Hawaii Governor John Burns, to help create the first menu. That menu grew over the decades into a full lineup of Hawaiian comfort food. Today, Zippy's is known for plate lunches, saimin noodles, Korean fried chicken, chili, the Zip Pac bento plate, and Chantilly cake.
The chain has operated in Hawaii for 60 years. In 2026, Zippy's marks its 60th anniversary. The brand has 27 locations across Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, and now Southern Nevada. Las Vegas is the only mainland U.S. market where Zippy's operates.
The decision to expand to Las Vegas made sense for the brand. The city has a large Hawaiian and Pacific Islander population, and that community had long been asking for a taste of home. When the first Las Vegas location opened in October 2023, the lines stretched out the door. The demand was real and immediate.
What Happens Next
With five locations now open in the Las Vegas Valley, Zippy's has built a solid base of operations. The chain went from zero to five locations in the Las Vegas area in under three years. That pace of growth is notable for any restaurant brand.
Whether more locations are planned for the Las Vegas area beyond the current five is NOT FOUND in publicly available information at the time of this writing. However, the pattern so far suggests the brand is watching how well the North Las Vegas and Summerlin locations perform before making further announcements.
The pre-paid pickup lane at the North Las Vegas location could be a test of a new concept for the brand. If customers use it heavily, other Zippy's locations in the valley might add similar features in the future. That kind of operational innovation helps a restaurant stay competitive as the dining market changes.
For North Las Vegas specifically, the arrival of Zippy's is part of a broader wave of commercial activity. New retail centers, housing developments, and infrastructure projects are all drawing more attention to the area. Each new business that opens helps attract the next one. Zippy's at Camino Al Norte is one more piece of that puzzle.
For the real estate market, continued commercial development in North Las Vegas is a good sign for property values. Buyers looking for affordable homes with improving amenities nearby have been watching North Las Vegas closely. The steady addition of quality dining and retail options makes the area more attractive to a wider range of buyers and renters.
Ryan's Take
When a brand like Zippy's chooses to open in a neighborhood, it is not by accident. These decisions come after careful analysis of population growth, income levels, traffic patterns, and community demographics. North Las Vegas checked all the boxes.
I have watched North Las Vegas grow steadily over the past several years. New master-planned communities have added thousands of homes. Families are moving in from California and other high-cost states, looking for space, affordability, and quality of life. The commercial sector is catching up to the residential growth, and that is exactly what you want to see in a healthy market.
For buyers, this is a reminder that the neighborhoods you invest in today may look very different five years from now. The fundamentals in North Las Vegas are strong. Land is still affordable compared to the rest of the valley. Infrastructure is improving. And now, more restaurants and retailers are following the rooftops.
If you are thinking about buying in North Las Vegas, the question to ask is not just what the neighborhood looks like today. Ask what it looked like three years ago, and then look at the direction it is heading. Zippy's expanding here is one more data point in a positive trend.
What You Can Do
If you want to visit the new Zippy's, head to 5485 Camino Al Norte in North Las Vegas, NV 89031. Takeout service starts at 6 a.m. and runs until midnight every day. Dine-in opens at 7 a.m. and also closes at midnight. To use the pre-paid pickup lane, order and pay in advance through Zippy's online ordering or app before you arrive.
If you are curious about what Zippy's serves, the menu includes plate lunches with choices like teriyaki beef, chicken katsu, and Korean fried chicken. Saimin noodle soup is a must-try if you have never had it before. The Zip Pac bento is a popular takeout option. And if you have a sweet tooth, try the Chantilly cake.
If the opening of Zippy's has you thinking about what North Las Vegas has to offer as a place to live, I would love to talk with you. The area has a lot going on right now, and there are still good opportunities for buyers at prices that are hard to find elsewhere in the valley.
