Summerlin Trail System Near Eagle Hills

by Ryan Rose

How Big Is the Summerlin Trail System Near Eagle Hills?

The Summerlin trail system spans over 200 miles of interconnected walking, biking, and running paths throughout the master planned community, with plans to eventually reach 250 miles. Eagle Hills residents have direct access to this network, which connects neighborhoods, parks, schools, and shopping centers across Summerlin.

What Types of Trails Are Available?

The trail system includes six distinct trail types. Street side trails are landscaped and lighted, forming the backbone of daily commuting routes to schools and retail. Village trails follow natural arroyos and open spaces, offering quiet corridors for long distance runners and walkers looking to escape traffic noise. Multi modal trails measure 10 feet wide with both paved and soft surfaces for varied use.

Regional trails extend the system beyond Summerlin's borders, linking directly to Bureau of Land Management land in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. A planned 20 mile bike and hike trail along State Route 159 will soon provide a dedicated connection from the Stonebridge village to Red Rock Canyon. An additional 3.5 mile segment funded by the city of Las Vegas in partnership with Howard Hughes is also under construction along Summerlin Parkway from Rampart Boulevard.

How Do Eagle Hills Residents Access the Trails?

Eagle Hills sits in the Hills Village of Summerlin, one of the original Summerlin villages developed in the early 1990s. The community's internal greenbelt trail feeds into the broader Summerlin trail network just outside the guard gate. From there, residents can walk or bike to The Trails Village shopping center, Bruce Trent Park, Willows Park, and dozens of other Summerlin destinations without needing a car.

The Trails Park and pool complex is a short walk from Eagle Hills, offering a resident only pool with water slides, playgrounds, and additional trail connections. This makes Eagle Hills one of the most trail accessible neighborhoods in all of Summerlin.
