Summerlin vs Henderson: Best Las Vegas Neighborhoods Compared

Reverence sits at approximately 3,200 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest residential communities in the Las Vegas valley. This elevation, combined with its position at the base of the Spring Mountains, gives residents panoramic views and a measurable climate advantage over neighborhoods on the valley floor.

Elevation Compared to the Valley

The Las Vegas Strip sits at roughly 2,000 feet above sea level. Henderson and most of the eastern valley range from 1,800 to 2,200 feet. Reverence's 3,200 foot elevation puts it about 1,000 feet higher than the typical Las Vegas neighborhood. This difference is noticeable in daily life, particularly during summer.

Temperature Advantage

As a general rule, temperature drops approximately 3 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit for every 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Reverence residents experience evening temperatures that are consistently cooler than the valley floor during the hottest months. This makes outdoor activities, barbecues, and evening walks more comfortable from June through September, when lower elevation neighborhoods can stay above 100 degrees well past sunset.

Mountain Views

Homes on the western edge of The Heights at Reverence face the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon, with unobstructed views of the escarpment. These lots command a premium of $50,000 to $100,000 over comparable interior lots. The red and cream sandstone formations are visible year round and particularly dramatic during sunrise and sunset.

East facing homes look out over the Las Vegas valley, with views extending to the Strip skyline, Sunrise Mountain, and beyond. On clear days, visibility stretches for dozens of miles.

Strip Views

Several Reverence homes, particularly those on the eastern high points of the community, offer direct sightlines to the Las Vegas Strip. These views are especially appealing at night when the Strip lights are visible from backyard patios and upper floor windows. Strip view lots are limited and tend to sell quickly when they come on the market.

Local Insight

Ryan Rose considers the elevation and views to be Reverence's most distinctive physical characteristic. Other guard gated communities in Summerlin offer pools, fitness centers, and security, but very few sit at 3,200 feet with views in both directions. He recommends visiting in the evening to experience the temperature difference and the sunset light on the mountains, which is when the community is at its best.
