This guide is for buyers who want a guard-gated home on the west side of the Las Vegas valley. It covers two guard-gated communities: Red Rock Country Club and Queensridge.

Red Rock Country Club is a guard-gated golf community in the Summerlin area. It has two golf courses. One is open to the public, and one is private.

Queensridge is a gated community next to Summerlin's east side. It has single-family homes and a pair of high-rise condo towers.

One thing to know up front: at Red Rock Country Club, the club sells memberships on its own, with its own fees.

Red Rock Country Club or Queensridge: which fits you?

Both places sit behind a gate on the west side of the valley. Here is a quick side-by-side.

Red Rock Country Club at a glance

Red Rock Country Club is a guard-gated golf community with about 1,000 homes on 738 acres.

Where it is

Red Rock Country Club is in the Summerlin area, on the west side of the valley. It is not technically part of the Summerlin master plan.

It sits south of W Charleston Blvd, just west of the 215 Beltway. Downtown Summerlin is a short drive to the northeast. Addresses here use zip code 89135.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area lies to the west. The golf courses have views of Red Rock Canyon.

When it was built

Development began in 1998. The clubhouse and the first golf course opened in 2000.

Is Red Rock Country Club private? Gates, HOA and club membership

The short answer: the community is guard-gated, and the club has both private and public parts.

Gates

Red Rock Country Club is guard-gated. Ask how guest and delivery access works before you move in.

HOA and club are separate

The club sells memberships on its own. Each membership has its own one-time, non-refundable initiation fee and its own monthly dues.

So a home here can come with two sets of costs to look at:

HOA dues for the community. Ask the HOA for current dues.
Club fees, if you choose to join or if a rule applies to the home. Ask the club and the HOA what applies to a home before you buy.

2026 club rates

The club lists six membership categories for 2026. These are its published 2026 rates. Confirm them with the club before you decide.

Every category also has a $175 monthly food minimum. Initiation is non-equity and non-refundable.

Example: With the 2026 Social rate, $245 in dues plus the $175 food minimum is $420 a month, or $5,040 a year. Add the $1,500 initiation fee, and the first year comes to about $6,540. With the 2026 Full Golf rate, $1,225 plus $175 is $1,400 a month, or $16,800 a year. Add the $65,000 initiation fee, and the first year comes to about $81,800. These totals do not include HOA dues.

Families and kids

The club offers Tot Stop childcare, a Junior Golf membership and junior tennis programs.

Golf and the clubhouse

Red Rock Country Club has two golf courses, a main clubhouse and a Sports Clubhouse.

Two Arnold Palmer-designed courses

Both courses were designed by Arnold Palmer:

The Arroyo course is open to the public. You can play it without being a member.
The Mountain course is private.

Clubhouses and amenities

The club has a main clubhouse and a Sports Clubhouse. Amenities include:

A fitness center with group classes
Tot Stop childcare

Member dining includes Oasis Grill, Palmer Lounge, Pool Side Cabana Grill and Arroyo Restaurant.

Not everything is members only. The club runs visitor tennis lessons and visitor spa services.

The club holds social events for members. Ask the club for the current calendar.

Queensridge: guard-gated homes and high-rise condos

Queensridge is a gated community with single-family homes and high-rise condos.

Where it is

Queensridge is not part of the Summerlin master plan. It sits next to Summerlin's east side, in the City of Las Vegas. It runs around Rampart Blvd, Alta Dr and W Charleston Blvd.

Most of Queensridge uses zip code 89145. The north part uses 89144. Confirm the zip for any home you like.

The gate

Queensridge is gated, with a staffed guard gate. Ask how guest and delivery access works in the part you like.

Queensridge has single-family homes plus high-rise condos at One Queensridge Place. County records list several neighborhoods here, including:

Windsor at Queensridge is its own recorded neighborhood. It sits in the northeast part of Queensridge.

The former golf course

The former golf course inside Queensridge covers about 250 acres. It is closed.

In February 2025, the Las Vegas City Council approved a rezoning and a plan for about 1,480 homes there. The plan included about 98 acres of open space and a park. As reported at the time, the approval allowed site clearing only. Traffic and drainage studies and permits were still needed.

If you are looking at a home near the old course, ask for the latest status before you buy.

West Career and Technical Academy

West Career and Technical Academy is a CCSD magnet high school, grades 9 to 12. You apply through the CCSD magnet process. It is at 11945 W Charleston Blvd, 89135, about 7 minutes from Red Rock Country Club. It was a National Blue Ribbon School in 2020.

Private schools nearby

Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School is a private Lutheran school, grades 6 to 12. It is at 2015 S Hualapai Way, 89117, about 5 to 7 minutes away. Its varsity teams play at the 4A and 5A levels.
The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain is a private school, preschool through grade 8. It is at 10845 W Desert Inn Rd, about 6 to 8 minutes away.
Bishop Gorman High School is a private Catholic high school at 5959 S Hualapai Way, about 12 to 13 minutes away.

Ask each private school about tuition and openings for your child's grade. Drive times are from Red Rock Country Club, with no traffic.

Parks, trails and Red Rock Canyon

Here are three parks and one Red Rock Canyon trail near Red Rock Country Club.

Fox Hill Park

Fox Hill Park covers 18 acres in The Paseos village. It is about 10 to 11 minutes from Red Rock Country Club. It has:

Willows Park

Willows Park is at 2775 Desert Marigold Ln, 89135, in The Willows village. The county lists:

The pool is at the Willows Community Center and is for residents only. Ask the Summerlin Council about access.

Stonebridge Park

Stonebridge Park covers nearly 11 acres in the Stonebridge village. It is about 8 to 9 minutes from Red Rock Country Club. It has a lawn, pickleball, basketball, a playground and shaded picnic areas.

Pine Creek Trail and Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area lies to the west of Red Rock Country Club. It is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

Pine Creek Trail is a 2-mile round trip. It follows a seasonal creek to the site of the old Wilson homestead. The trailhead is on the one-way Scenic Drive, just before mile 11. From Red Rock Country Club, it is about 15 minutes to the Scenic Drive entrance. Then you drive the loop to the trailhead.

Timed entry

From October 1 to May 31, you need a timed-entry reservation for the Scenic Drive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Book at Recreation.gov or call (877) 444-6777. Drive hours change by month. In October they run 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rules can change, so check the BLM site before you go.

Shopping, dining and things to do

Downtown Summerlin is at 1980 Festival Plaza Dr, 89135. It is about 5 minutes from Red Rock Country Club. It had more than 125 stores and restaurants when it opened in 2014.

Las Vegas Ballpark is a 10,000-capacity ballpark. It is home to the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Athletics.

City National Arena is the Vegas Golden Knights practice facility. It opened in 2017. It offers open skate, learn-to-skate, house league and youth travel hockey.

Red Rock Casino Resort is about 5 to 7 minutes from Red Rock Country Club.

Tivoli Village is at 400 S Rampart Blvd, 89145, right next to Queensridge's east side. It has shops, restaurants and fitness. It is about 12 minutes from Red Rock Country Club.

Harlo Steakhouse & Bar is at 1720 Festival Plaza Dr in Downtown Summerlin.

Vintner Grill is at 10100 W Charleston Blvd, Suite 150, 89135.

Springs Preserve covers 180 acres at 333 S Valley View Blvd, 89107. It has museums and an 8-acre botanical garden. It is about 20 to 25 minutes east of Red Rock Country Club.

How far is Red Rock Country Club from the Strip?

Red Rock Country Club is about 12 miles by road from the Strip, at Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo Rd.

Drive time: About 20 to 25 minutes with no traffic. It takes longer at rush hour.
Main route: The 215 Beltway south, then Flamingo Rd east.
Harry Reid International Airport: About 19 miles by road via the 215, or about 30 to 40 minutes.
Summerlin Hospital (657 N Town Center Dr): About 10 to 12 minutes.
From Queensridge to the Strip: About 20 to 25 minutes.

How to read these numbers

A median is the middle sale. Half sold for more, half for less. The Summerlin row mixes condos, townhomes and large single-family homes. So it is a starting point, not a price for a home in Red Rock Country Club or Queensridge.

A rough way to estimate

Price per square foot can give you a rough range. Multiply it by the size of the home.

Example: A 3,500 sq ft home at $350 per sq ft works out to about $1,225,000. A 5,000 sq ft home at the same rate is about $1,750,000. (Made-up numbers to show the math.)
