KB Home: Energy Efficiency and Personalization

KB Home sits fourth in overall Las Vegas closings with 1,337 homes at a median of $539,000. What distinguishes them from Lennar and DR Horton is their focus on energy efficiency and buyer personalization. Every KB Home sold in Las Vegas carries ENERGY STAR certification, which matters in a desert climate where cooling costs can run 10 to 11 months out of the year. KB Home also uses a studio-based personalization model where buyers make design selections earlier in the process, allowing for more meaningful customization than the package-based approach Lennar uses. Their price per square foot tends to run slightly higher, but the energy savings and selection flexibility attract buyers who plan to stay long term.

How to Compare on Equal Footing

The most important thing to understand when comparing these three builders is that the base price does not tell the full story. Lennar's base includes more, while DR Horton and KB Home build from a lower starting point but add to it through design center upgrades and lot premiums.
