Who Designed the Golf Courses at Red Rock Country Club?
Arnold Palmer, widely known as "The King" of golf, designed both championship courses at Red Rock Country Club in the Summerlin community of Las Vegas.
Who Designed the Golf Courses at Red Rock Country Club?
Arnold Palmer (1929 to 2016) and his longtime design partner Ed Seay created both the Mountain Course and the Arroyo Course at Red Rock Country Club. Palmer's design firm, Arnold Palmer Design Company, was responsible for over 300 courses worldwide, and the two layouts at Red Rock stand among his most scenic work in the American Southwest. The Mountain Course opened in 1999 as a private, members only facility, while the Arroyo Course followed in 2003 as a public Arnold Palmer Signature course.
Palmer's philosophy centered on creating courses that challenged skilled players while remaining enjoyable for amateurs. Both Red Rock courses reflect that approach with multiple tee placements on every hole, strategic bunkering, and greens that reward precise iron play without punishing the casual golfer. The desert terrain and elevation changes naturally suited Palmer's style of working with the land rather than reshaping it.
How Do the Two Courses Compare?
The Mountain Course plays longer at 7,001 yards with a slope rating of 130, making it the more demanding of the two. Its narrow fairways, multi tiered greens, and elevation changes test every club in the bag. Access is restricted to Red Rock Country Club members and their guests.
The Arroyo Course measures 6,883 yards with a links style layout featuring Bermuda grass fairways and Bentgrass greens. Open to daily fee players, it offers the same Arnold Palmer design pedigree in a public setting. Both courses share the stunning Red Rock Canyon backdrop, with panoramic views of sandstone formations and the Las Vegas valley skyline.
What Palmer's Legacy Means for Red Rock Homeowners
Ryan Rose frequently explains to buyers that an Arnold Palmer designed course adds measurable prestige and lasting value to a golf community. Palmer's name carries weight with golfers worldwide, and having two of his courses within a single guard gated neighborhood is exceptionally rare. For homebuyers who value both lifestyle and long term investment, the Palmer connection at Red Rock Country Club is a genuine differentiator.
