The Vegas Pumpkin Patch opens this Friday, Oct. 2, in the Cowabunga Bay parking lot at 900 Galleria Drive in Henderson, and it runs every day through Oct. 31. Getting in is free, parking is free, and so is the hay maze. That makes it one of the easiest October outings in the valley for a family that wants fall fun without spending money just to walk through the gate.
You can still spend money if you want to. The patch has more than 30 carnival rides, a midway full of games and more than 10 food vendors, and all of those cost extra. But the free part is big enough to fill an evening on its own: the hay maze, a kids activity center with arts and crafts, pumpkin displays and plenty of photo spots.
The season wraps up with a free Halloween night on Oct. 31, with trick-or-treating, a Halloween party, live music and a DJ. Here is everything you need to know before you go, including the hours for every day of the week, what is free, what costs money, and a few tips for keeping the night cheap and easy.
What Happened
Vegas Pumpkin Patch announced its 2026 season on its official event site. The dates are Friday, Oct. 2, through Saturday, Oct. 31. The setup is in the parking lot of Cowabunga Bay Water Park, 900 Galleria Drive, Henderson, NV 89011. The patch takes over the lot for the month.
The hours change depending on the day of the week. Here is the full schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Friday: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Saturday: 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Sunday: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Opening day is a Friday, so the gates open at 4 p.m. on Oct. 2. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which means the last day of the season runs on the longer weekend schedule, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The free list is the headline. According to the event site and a listing from the local magazine Everyday Vegas, general admission and parking cost nothing. The hay maze is free. The kids activity center, which has arts and crafts, is free. The pumpkin displays and photo areas around the grounds are free. On Halloween night, trick-or-treating, the Halloween party, live music and the DJ are free too.
The paid side is a full carnival. There are more than 30 rides. Everyday Vegas lists a Ferris wheel, a carousel, a Super Slide, the Zipper, the Gravitron and the Ring of Fire among them. Rides run on tickets, and each ride takes three or more tickets. You can also buy a ride pass or wristband instead of single tickets. There is a midway of carnival games, more than 10 food vendors selling carnival-style meals and treats, and pumpkins for sale if you want to take one home.
The event site does not list ticket or wristband prices in the details we could confirm, so plan on checking the official site or the ticket booth before you commit to rides. That is the one number every parent will want, and it is worth getting straight from the source.
Why It Matters to Las Vegas Residents
Fall outings in the valley add up fast. Between parking fees, admission, food and rides, a family of four can spend real money on one night out. A patch where the gate and the parking lot are both free changes the math. You can show up, walk the maze, let the kids do a craft, take some pictures by the pumpkins and leave without paying a thing. If you decide to add a couple of rides or a funnel cake, that is your choice, not the price of getting in.
The timing works well for Las Vegas, too. Our Octobers start warm. Most of the patch's weekday hours run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., after the worst of the afternoon heat, and the weekend hours stretch into the evening. For families with school-age kids, a weeknight visit after homework is realistic. For families with toddlers, a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. gets you in early, before the crowds and before bedtime.
Location matters as well. Galleria Drive is in Henderson, so for families in Henderson, Green Valley and the southeast valley, this is a short drive instead of a trek across town. Several of the valley's farm-style patches, like the ones on local family-event lists, sit in the northwest valley or north of town. Having a full carnival-style patch on the Henderson side gives those neighborhoods a close-to-home option all month long.
It also runs for a full month. Some fall events in town are one weekend and done. This one is open every day from Oct. 2 through Oct. 31. If one night gets rained out, or the kids get sick, or a weekend fills up with soccer games, there is always another night. That flexibility is worth a lot to a busy household.
There is a local business side to this as well. A month-long event with more than 10 food vendors and a full ride operation brings steady evening traffic to the Galleria Drive area through October. For nearby residents, that can mean busier roads around the lot on weekend nights, especially on opening weekend and Halloween. If you live close by and are not going, it is worth knowing when the crowds will be heaviest so you can plan your own errands around them.
Finally, the free Halloween night is a real perk. Trick-or-treating in a lit, fenced event space with music and a DJ is an easy alternative for families who live in newer communities where the streets are still filling in, or who just want a safer, more contained way to do the candy run.
Background and History
The Vegas Pumpkin Patch is not a farm pumpkin patch. It is closer to a traveling fall carnival with pumpkins added. City Cast Las Vegas put it plainly in its 2025 pumpkin patch roundup, calling it "more like a Midwest carnival than a traditional pumpkin patch." That guide noted the Ferris wheel and other rides, food on site and the option to customize a pumpkin.
The patch has used the Cowabunga Bay lot on Galleria Drive in earlier seasons. The family guide Nevada Moms has listed a "Sneak Peek the Patch" early opening at the same address in a past year, and City Cast included the Cowabunga Bay location in its 2025 list. So if you have been before, you already know the layout: a big paved lot, rides lit up at night and the pumpkin area set apart from the midway.
It is also one of several fall options across the valley. The local site Vegas Family Events keeps a running list of pumpkin patches in the area. Its list includes Gilcrease Orchard's Fall Harvest on North Tenaya Way in the northwest, the Moapa Valley Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch north of town off I-15, and the Viva Pumpkin Patch at Craig Ranch in North Las Vegas. Each one has a different feel. The farm-style patches lean into hay rides and open fields. The Henderson patch leans into rides, games and carnival food.
That mix is the reason it draws a crowd. Some kids want to pick a pumpkin. Some want the Gravitron. A patch that does both, and lets you skip the paid half entirely, covers a lot of families at once.
What Happens Next
The gates open Friday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. From there, the patch runs daily through Saturday, Oct. 31. The first weekend is Oct. 2 to Oct. 4, and like most fall events, opening weekend and the last two weekends before Halloween tend to be the busiest. If you want a calmer visit, a Monday through Thursday night is your best bet.
Here is how the five weekends of the season line up, so you can plan around school, sports and work:
- Weekend 1: Friday, Oct. 2, to Sunday, Oct. 4 (opening weekend)
- Weekend 2: Friday, Oct. 9, to Sunday, Oct. 11
- Weekend 3: Friday, Oct. 16, to Sunday, Oct. 18
- Weekend 4: Friday, Oct. 23, to Sunday, Oct. 25
- Final weekend: Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31 (Halloween)
Every Friday opens at 4 p.m. and runs to 11 p.m. Every Saturday runs 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Every Sunday runs 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. On the weeknights in between, you get 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. There is no day off on the schedule, so the patch is open all 30 days of the season.
Halloween night is the big finish. Because Oct. 31 is a Saturday this year, the patch runs its weekend hours that day, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. The free trick-or-treating, Halloween party, live music and DJ are part of that final night. Expect it to be the most crowded day of the season, so plan for parking to fill and lines to be longer at the rides and food vendors.
Keep an eye on the weather, too. Outdoor events in the valley can pause for wind or storms. The event's official website and its Instagram account, @vegaspumpkinpatch, are the places to check on the day of your visit for any changes to hours or closures. It is also the best place to find current ride ticket and wristband prices, since those can change from season to season.
Ryan's Take
I talk with a lot of families who are moving to Henderson or thinking about it, and one question comes up again and again: what is there to do with the kids that does not cost a fortune? Events like this are part of my answer. A free gate, free parking and a free hay maze on the Henderson side of the valley, open every single night in October, is exactly the kind of thing that makes a neighborhood feel like home. It is the stuff you do on a random Tuesday because you can, not because you planned it for weeks.
When buyers compare neighborhoods, they usually start with price, square footage and schools. That is the right place to start. But after they move in, what they talk about is how close things are. Is the park down the street? Can we get to the fall carnival in 15 minutes? Henderson does well on that front, with seasonal events, parks and family outings spread across the city. If you are weighing Henderson against another part of the valley, spend an evening at something like this. You will learn a lot about what daily life there actually feels like.
What You Can Do
Pick your night first. If you want the quietest visit, go Monday through Thursday, when the patch is open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. If you have little ones, try a Saturday or Sunday right at 2 p.m. If you want the full Halloween experience with free trick-or-treating and live music, circle Saturday, Oct. 31.
Set your budget before you arrive. Everything you need for a fun, free night is already included: entry, parking, the hay maze, the kids activity center, the pumpkin displays and the photo spots. Decide ahead of time whether you will add rides, games or food, and how much. Rides take three or more tickets each, so if your kids want to ride a lot, ask about a ride pass or wristband at the booth, since that can be the better deal.
Here is what a completely free weeknight could look like. Get there around 5 p.m., right when the gates open. Park for free in the lot. Walk the hay maze first, while the kids still have energy. Then head to the kids activity center for arts and crafts. After that, stroll past the pumpkin displays and stop at a few photo spots while the sun goes down. Stay long enough to see the rides light up after dark, then head home. You get the sights, the sounds and the fall feeling without buying a single ticket.
If you want to add a little spending, a simple way to keep it under control is to pick one treat per person. Maybe that is one ride, one game or one snack from the food vendors. Kids tend to remember the maze and the lights as much as the rides, so you do not need to do everything to have a good night.
If your family likes variety, you can also pair this patch with a farm-style patch elsewhere in the valley on a different weekend. Local family guides list options like Gilcrease Orchard in the northwest and the Viva Pumpkin Patch at Craig Ranch in North Las Vegas. Check each one's own website for 2026 dates, hours and prices before you go, because those details change each year.
A few more tips:
- Bring your phone charged. The photo spots are free, and fall pictures are half the fun.
- Bring water, and dress in layers. Early October evenings can still be warm, and late October nights cool down.
- Check the official site or @vegaspumpkinpatch on Instagram before you leave home for any weather changes.
- Plan your pumpkin. Pumpkins are for sale on site, so leave room in the car if you want one to carve at home.
Want the address for your map app? It is Cowabunga Bay Water Park, 900 Galleria Drive, Henderson, NV 89011. Park in the lot and follow the lights.
