Summerlin Trails Near The Canyons: 200+ Miles of Walking, Biking, and Running Paths

The Canyons in Summerlin sits at the center of a 200 plus mile interconnected trail system built for walking, running, biking, and skating. From short neighborhood loops to long distance corridors reaching Red Rock Canyon, the trail access from this community is unmatched in Las Vegas.

How Many Miles of Trails Are Near The Canyons?

Summerlin's trail network spans over 200 miles across the entire master planned community. Village trails are 8 feet wide and run through natural arroyos and man made open space corridors, creating a connected system that links neighborhoods to parks, shopping, and schools. Residents of The Canyons can step outside and access this network within minutes, with no need to drive to a trailhead.

Which Trails Are Closest to The Canyons?

The Cottonwood Canyon Park Trail is the nearest major route, covering 3.5 miles from behind Costco west of Pavilion Center Drive to Hualapai Way. A 1.25 mile loop option is available within the park for shorter outings. Hualapai Canyon Trail, less than one mile long, offers a quieter alternative ideal for evening walks and light jogging. Both trails feature concrete surfaces suitable for strollers, bikes, and runners.

Ten miles of trail have been completed along the 215 Beltway, with plans to eventually connect to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This planned extension will give residents of The Canyons direct trail access to one of Nevada's most visited natural landmarks. Ryan Rose points out that this future connectivity is already influencing buyer interest in the western Summerlin neighborhoods closest to the route.

What Can You Do on Summerlin's Trail System?

The trails support walking, running, road biking, and inline skating. Cottonwood Canyon Park Trail is rated easy and averages about 1 hour and 13 minutes to complete on foot. Two overpass tunnels at Town Center and Pavilion keep trail users separated from vehicle traffic. The system also connects to Cottonwood Canyon Park's 69 acres of green space, playgrounds, and picnic pavilions, making it easy to combine a trail outing with a park visit.

Ryan Rose's Local Take

Ryan Rose regularly tells buyers that the Summerlin trail system is one of the most underappreciated assets of The Canyons. Many residents use the trails not just for exercise but as daily commuting routes to Downtown Summerlin and nearby retail centers. That blend of recreation and practical transportation adds measurable value to the neighborhood and keeps it competitive among Summerlin's most desirable villages.
