A brand new CCSD elementary school is coming to Skye Canyon. Ground breaks summer 2026, doors open for the 2027-28 school year, and the K-5 campus will hold about 850 students.

Where will the new Skye Canyon elementary be built?

The new school site sits near Skye Canyon Park Drive and Shaumber Road, inside the community itself. That location was selected to put a zoned CCSD elementary within walking or short driving distance of most Skye Canyon neighborhoods, which today rely on schools several minutes outside the community.

CCSD plans to break ground in summer 2026 with an opening target of the 2027-28 school year. The campus is designed for around 850 K-5 students.

Why is CCSD building a new school here?

Skye Canyon's family base keeps growing. Roughly 75% of households in 89166 are families, and existing nearby elementaries have absorbed steady enrollment increases. The new school is meant to relieve pressure on those neighboring campuses and give many Skye Canyon addresses a closer zoned option.
