Summerlin Pool Season Guide: Pools and Water Fun

When temperatures in Summerlin start climbing past 100 degrees, having access to well maintained community pools and water attractions makes all the difference. Summerlin's pool season runs from late May through early September, and between the HOA community pools and nearby Cowabunga Canyon Waterpark, there is no shortage of ways to cool off.

When Is Pool Season in Summerlin?

Summerlin community pools are open from May 22 through September 7. Hours run daily from 11am to 8pm, giving families and lap swimmers a solid window to enjoy the water throughout the desert summer. Pool passes cost $40 for anyone age 2 and older, and children under 1 get in for $7. Passes are available through the Summerlin Council and cover access to all three community pool facilities.

What Are the Summerlin Community Pool Options?

The Trails Pool is the go to facility for serious swimmers and families alike. It features dedicated lap lanes, a dive tank, and a wading pool for younger kids. The Trails Pool is also home to the Summerlin Seals swim team, making it the center of competitive youth swimming in the community.

The Vistas Pool is a favorite for families with kids who want a little more excitement. A water slide and a dedicated children's lagoon keep younger swimmers entertained, and the overall vibe is more playful and energetic than the other facilities.

The Willows Pool offers a resort style experience with beach entry that gently slopes into the water. This is a popular choice for parents with toddlers who are just getting comfortable around water, and for adults who want a more relaxed atmosphere.

What About Cowabunga Canyon Waterpark?

For bigger thrills, Cowabunga Canyon Waterpark sits just minutes from Summerlin and delivers a full day of water park fun. The park features 25 slides, including the Canyon Cliffs, a 60 foot freefall slide that is not for the faint of heart. There is also an interactive kids' playground, a lazy river for floating, and a wave pool that draws crowds all summer long. Cowabunga Canyon is a popular option for birthday parties, summer camps, and family outings when the community pools feel too low key.

Tips for Making the Most of Pool Season

Arriving early, especially on weekends, helps you claim a good spot before the crowds build. Sunscreen is non negotiable in the Las Vegas sun, and bringing snacks and water bottles saves multiple trips to the concession stand. For families who plan to swim regularly, the $40 season pass pays for itself quickly compared to daily admission elsewhere.

According to Ryan Rose of Rose Homes LV, the pool amenities are one of the things that set Summerlin apart from other Las Vegas communities, especially for families with kids who need an active outdoor outlet during the long summer months.
