Bear's Best Las Vegas Golf Near The Cliffs

by Ryan Rose

Bear's Best Las Vegas was a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course in The Ridges area of Summerlin, just a short drive from The Cliffs. It closed to public play on June 28, 2025, and the site is being rebuilt as Amara Golf Club at The Ridges, a private members only club.

What Made Bear's Best Las Vegas Unique?

Bear's Best Las Vegas opened in 2001 with 18 holes that recreated Jack Nicklaus' favorite designs from courses he built around the world. Each hole was a faithful reproduction of a signature Nicklaus layout, assembled into a single round that played through the Summerlin desert. The par 72 course stretched 7,194 yards and let golfers experience legendary holes from across the globe without leaving Las Vegas.

The course sat on land inside and next to The Ridges, surrounded by luxury homes and mountain scenery. The layout took advantage of the natural desert terrain with elevation changes, rock outcroppings, and sweeping views toward Red Rock Canyon. For more than two decades it was one of the best known public rounds in Summerlin.

What Is Happening to the Course Now?

Mulligan Holdings Inc. bought the property for $30.5 million and is spending up to $300 million to convert it into Amara Golf Club at The Ridges. The project is led by Andrew Pascal and Mike Mixer. Plans call for a private members only club with club villas and custom homes. The club is reported to reopen in October 2026, with the residences following in 2027.

Because Amara will be private, walk up tee times at this address are no longer an option. Cliffs residents who want public play now look to Angel Park Golf Club, which is roughly 5 to 10 minutes away, or other public courses in the west valley.

A Golf Lifestyle Without the Compromise

Buyers who want golf close by without giving up security, modern construction, and proximity to daily conveniences still find that combination in The Cliffs. The village's guard gated entrance, 1,700 home layout across 418 to 450 acres, and location in Summerlin's southernmost corridor put residents within a short drive of TPC Summerlin, Angel Park, and the coming Amara Golf Club. Ryan Rose regularly works with buyers who relocate from other states because The Cliffs offers that golf access alongside new construction homes from builders like Toll Brothers and Lennar.
