Is Nevada's Worker Advantage Program Still Available in 2026

by Ryan Rose

If you have heard about Nevada's $20,000 down payment assistance for essential workers and wonder whether the window has closed, the good news is clear: the Worker Advantage Program is still open and accepting applications in 2026.

Current Program Status

The Worker Advantage Program launched on December 1, 2025, and operates on a first come, first served basis. As of January 2026, only 81 of the 900 available spots have been claimed. That leaves 819 households still eligible to receive the full $20,000 in assistance. The program remains active with no announced end date beyond when all spots are filled.

Why So Many Spots Remain

The program is relatively new, and many eligible essential workers simply have not heard about it yet. With $18 million in total funding spread across 900 households, there is still significant capacity. However, as awareness grows through media coverage and lender outreach, the pace of applications will likely accelerate. Workers who act sooner have a stronger chance of securing their spot.

What You Get in 2026

The program terms have not changed since launch. Qualified essential workers receive $20,000 as a 0% interest second mortgage with no monthly payments. The assistance can cover your down payment, closing costs, or a mortgage rate buydown. Repayment is only required when you sell, refinance, or reach the 30 year term.

Eligibility requirements remain the same: minimum 640 credit score, household income at or below 150% AMI ($142,350 in Clark County), six months of Nevada residency, full time employment in one of 47 essential worker professions, and a primary residence purchase up to $832,750.

How to Secure Your Spot

Contact a Home Is Possible certified lender to begin the process. Nevada has more than 70 participating lenders statewide. You can search the directory at Home Is Possible Find a Lender or reach the Nevada Housing Division at HIP@housing.nv.gov or 800-227-4960. Complete your homebuyer education course early to keep your timeline moving.
