The Henderson Silver Knights are collecting unopened, nonperishable food at their home games on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, and every donation goes to CARE Complex, a Las Vegas nonprofit that helps people experiencing homelessness. Drop off food Friday from 5 to 7:15 p.m. or Saturday from 4 to 6:15 p.m. at the tables outside the Tiltyard and M Resort entrances, and you will get an exclusive Silver Knights poster while supplies last.

It is one of the easiest ways to give back this month. If you are going to the game anyway, it only takes a minute on the way in. Both nights the Silver Knights host the San Diego Gulls.

Here is everything you need to know: the times, what to bring, what CARE Complex does with your donation and how to make the most of a hockey weekend in Henderson.

What Happened

On Oct. 27, 2026, the Henderson Silver Knights announced the food drive. The team's foundation, the Henderson Silver Knights Foundation, is running it in partnership with CARE Complex.

Here are the details from the team:

  • Friday, Nov. 6: Drop off food from 5 to 7:15 p.m. The Silver Knights play the San Diego Gulls at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 7: Drop off food from 4 to 6:15 p.m. The Silver Knights play the San Diego Gulls at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Tables outside the Tiltyard and M Resort entrances at Lee's Family Forum, the team's home arena in Henderson.
  • What to bring: Unopened, nonperishable food items.
  • Thank-you gift: An exclusive HSK poster for donors, while supplies last.
  • Who it helps: All donations go to CARE Complex.

The team also listed a few game-night extras. Saturday is HSK-Pop Knight at The Stronghold, and the first 2,500 fans get a free light-up bracelet.

Note on the drop-off tables: the team's announcement does not say whether you need a game ticket to reach them. The tables are outside the entrances, so a quick drop-off should be possible, but if you want to be sure, check with the team before you go. That detail is NOT VERIFIED.

Why It Matters to Las Vegas Residents

Food drives get the most attention around Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. But need does not wait for a holiday. Getting food to local nonprofits in early November helps them stock up before the busiest stretch of the year.

CARE Complex is a local group, and the help stays local. According to its website, CARE Complex is a nonprofit working to end homelessness in Las Vegas. It offers housing assistance, job readiness help and basic needs like hygiene products, clean water, meals, clothing, bus passes, mailboxes and lockers. It also runs a program called Homeless 2 Home. Its site lists food distribution at its monthly C.A.R.E. Fair.

That mix of services matters. For someone trying to get back on their feet, a mailing address, a locker and a bus pass can be just as important as a meal. Those are the basics that make it possible to apply for jobs, keep an ID safe and get to appointments. Food donations free up money and staff time so the group can keep those other services running.

For Henderson families, this is also a good way to show kids what giving back looks like. Bring them along, let them pick out a few cans at the store, and let them hand the bag over at the table. It is a small moment, but kids remember it.

And it ties a community cause to something people already enjoy. Hockey nights at Lee's Family Forum are a big part of weekend life for a lot of families in the southeast valley. Adding a bag of groceries to the trip is an easy way to turn a fun night into a helpful one.

Background and History

The Henderson Silver Knights are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. The team is owned in part by Bill Foley and his family and run by Foley Entertainment Group. Home games are played at Lee's Family Forum in Henderson.

Pro teams often use home games to support local causes, because a full arena is one of the best places to reach a lot of people at once. The Silver Knights have themed nights and promotions all season, and we rounded those up in our Silver Knights theme nights guide, linked at the top of this page.

CARE Complex, for its part, is based at 200 Foremaster Lane in Las Vegas. Its website lists hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. It is closed Thursday, and Friday is by appointment. The group's site also notes it earned a 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid, a group that rates how open nonprofits are about their work and finances.

This food drive also lands in a week with another local giving push. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission is asking for blankets and coats before the cold hits. If you want to help both, we covered that drive too, and it is linked at the top of this page.

A Simple Shopping List for Your Donation

Not sure what to buy? Here is an easy list built around the team's request for unopened, nonperishable food. You can grab a few of these on a regular grocery run without spending much.

  • Canned vegetables like green beans, corn or peas
  • Canned fruit packed in juice
  • Canned beans, chili or stew
  • Canned tuna, chicken or salmon
  • Peanut butter in plastic jars
  • Shelf-stable soups
  • Boxed cereal or oatmeal packets
  • Granola bars or crackers
  • Pasta and pasta sauce in plastic jars
  • Rice and other dry grains

A good rule of thumb: if it does not need a fridge and the package is sealed, it is a safe bet. If you are unsure about a specific item, CARE Complex can tell you what it needs most at 702-483-3055.

Making It a Family Project

Food drives are a great way to get kids involved. Here are a few ideas:

  • Give each child a small budget. Let them choose items at the store and add up the cost. It is a quick math lesson and a giving lesson at the same time.
  • Collect from neighbors. Put a box out on your street or in your HOA's group chat for a few days before the game. One family can turn into a whole block.
  • Team up with your youth hockey team. If your child plays, ask other families to each bring a bag. Drop them off together before the game.
  • Talk about where it goes. Explain that the food helps people in our own city who are working to get back on their feet.

Why Early November Is a Good Time to Give

Many people give around Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. That is wonderful, but it also means donations can bunch up in a few weeks. Giving in early November helps groups plan ahead and stock up before the busiest time. It also reminds everyone that need is year-round, not just a holiday thing.

What Happens Next

The food drive is only two nights long, so timing is everything. Friday drop-off runs 5 to 7:15 p.m., and Saturday drop-off runs 4 to 6:15 p.m. If you plan to stop by, aim for the start of each window, since the poster is only available while supplies last.

After the weekend, the donations go to CARE Complex. We do not have a goal or total for the drive, and the team has not said whether it will share one. That number is NOT FOUND for now.

If you miss the food drive, there are still ways to help. CARE Complex takes online donations through its website and lists in-kind giving options on its "More Ways to Give" page. You can also reach the group at 702-483-3055 or careinfo@carecomplex.org to ask what it needs most right now.

Other Ways to Help CARE Complex

Food is only one way to support the group's work. Based on the services CARE Complex lists on its website, here are a few other ideas:

  • Give online. CARE Complex takes donations through its website. A cash gift lets the group buy exactly what it needs most.
  • Give in kind. The group's "More Ways to Give" page lists options for donating items. Since it offers hygiene products, clothing and bus passes, it is worth asking whether those are needed.
  • Ask about volunteering. Reach out at careinfo@carecomplex.org or 702-483-3055 to ask how volunteers can help.
  • Spread the word. Share the food drive dates with your neighbors, coworkers and your kids' teams. More people knowing means more bags on the table.

Planning Your Hockey Night

If you are making a night of it, a little planning goes a long way. Arrive early to drop off your food during the window and to give yourself time to park and find your seats. On Saturday, the first 2,500 fans get a free light-up bracelet, so early arrival pays off twice. Single-game tickets are sold through the Silver Knights website and the official VGK and HSK app, per the team.

If you have little ones, think about the start times. Friday's game is at 7 p.m. and Saturday's is at 6 p.m. The earlier Saturday start may work better for young kids with an earlier bedtime.

And if you cannot make either game, you can still help. A direct gift or a call to CARE Complex to ask about its needs is a great way to support the same cause from home.

Ryan's Take

I love seeing local teams lean into the community, and this is a simple, smart one. It does not ask much. Grab a few cans, drop them at a table and enjoy the game. As a hockey dad and a coach, I know how many families are already at the rink on a Friday or Saturday night. That is a lot of potential bags of food.

Homelessness is a big, complex issue in the valley, and one food drive will not fix it. But groups like CARE Complex do the day-to-day work of helping people get stable again: a meal, a shower, a locker, an address, a bus pass and, eventually, a home. When neighbors chip in, that work goes further. A strong community is about more than home values. It is about people looking out for each other.

What You Can Do

Here is a quick checklist to make your donation count:

  • Pick the right items. The team asked for unopened, nonperishable food. Think canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned beans, canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, pasta, rice, cereal and shelf-stable soup.
  • Skip anything opened or expired. Unopened items only, per the team.
  • Think easy to open. Pop-top cans and single-serve items can be helpful for people who may not have a kitchen or can opener. This is a general tip, not a request from CARE Complex.
  • Know your window. Friday, Nov. 6, 5 to 7:15 p.m. or Saturday, Nov. 7, 4 to 6:15 p.m.
  • Find the tables. Outside the Tiltyard and M Resort entrances.
  • Go early for the poster. It is while supplies last.
  • Saturday bonus: First 2,500 fans get a free light-up bracelet.

If you want to go to a game, single-game tickets are sold through the Silver Knights website and the official VGK and HSK app. And if you cannot make it either night, consider a direct gift to CARE Complex or a few hours of your time. Every bit helps, especially heading into the holidays.
